There is nothing as awesome as the spectacle of a rotary snow plow in action, and the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad is one of the few places in North America that still has a steam-powered one. Join us for an amazing two-day visit to the famed 64-mile-long narrow gauge line as steam-powered Rotary #OY clears the upper reaches of the line for the first time since 1983.It's a magical combination of spectacular mountain railroading and steam power as two smoking 2-8-2's shove the chugging plow in a blizzard through five-foot drifts at the summit of 10,022-foot Cumbres Pass. Later, we'll see the first passenger train of the year traveling through freshly-plowed snow drifts.
Thanks to the world-class preservation efforts of the Cumbres & Toltec and mother nature's hand in the San Juan Mountains, this is a videotape that you won't want to miss.
