Oscar-winners Lee Marvin and Ernest Borgnine face off in an epic battle of wills in this riveting thriller. Set in the Pacific Northwest at the height of the Great Depression, EMPEROR OF THE NORTH pits a crafty, train-hopping drifter called A-No.1 (Marvin) against Shack (Borgnine), the cruel, intolerant conductor of Engine 19. When pride turns their determination into obsession, the clash escalates into a fight-to-the-finish that only one man can survive!

Filmed in Oregon in 1972 along the right of way of the Oregon, Pacific and Eastern Railway, the movie features the rolling stock and two steam locomotives of the OP&E, including 2-8-2 Mikado #19.

EMPEROR OF THE NORTH is a perennial railfan favorite. The action is intense and the language realistic for the setting and it's rated PG for violence and graphic language.

Co-starring Charles Tyner, Malcolm Atterbury, Harry Caesar, and Simon Oakland. Written by Christopher Knopf. Produced by Stan Hough. Directed by Robert Aldrich. A Kenneth Hyman Production.
