CSX Mountain Sub: The former Baltimore & Ohio route between Grafton, West Virginia and Altamont, Maryland is an exciting piece of mountain railroad. Fall colors surround an eastbound coal train as it departs Grafton with GE AC locomotives 457 and 453 on the point. At milepost 264, rear helpers shove hard on the rear of eastbound coal from White Tail Mine. Eastbound Train V-840 passes WS Tower at West End, milepost 262. Rear helpers push Train U-822 past Tunnelton depot. This was the interchange point with the now-defunct Western Virginia Northern. CSX, Seaboard System, and Conrail paint schemes lead Train Q-316 around "Graveyard Curve" near Tanner's Crossing, milepost 260.6. CSX 277, 7035, and 8815 power Train E-101 past PK Tower in Mt. Lake Park, milepost 229.7. Westbound Train Q-317 crests the summit at Altamont. Engine 7624 leads the way.
