The Illinois Central Green Diamond has just crossed the Mississippi River and entered St. Louis in October of 1965. Frisco's westbound Meteor departs St. Louis Union Station behind a pair of E-units. A trio of Chicago & North Western GP35s prepares to enter the yard at Madison, Illinois. The depot at Granite City, Illinois is framed by a Norfolk & Western passenger train on the left and a New York Central freight on the right. Four years after the Norfolk & Western/Wabash merger, the N&W Banner Blue departs Union Station for Chicago behind an E-8 still in Wabash livery. The Limited, a Gulf, Mobile & Ohio passenger run arriving from Chicago, traverses the "High Line" in downtown St. Louis.
