Considered by most experts to be one of the funniest comedies ever made, this film is based on a true story about the daring Civil War raid led by General Anderson, a Northern spy who penetrated Southern lines to steal a locomotive and destroy communications. The original film ran for 8 reels, 7 of which were devoted to the locomotive chase. The movie is the story of two locomotives, The Texas and The General. Two 4-4-0s were completely restored in 1927 for this film. No movie chase to date has ever been sustained so long, so successfully, or with such expert intermingling of genuine thrills. This movie classic, which is considered to be a masterpiece of screen achievement, is also considered to be one of Buster Keaton's finest films ever.

Starring Buster Keaton, Marion Mack, Frank Barnes, Jim Farley, Charles Smith, Glen Cavender, Frank Hagney, and Joe Keaton. Directed by Buster Keaton.
