Mainline steam doesn't get any better than this! Union Pacific's mighty 844 leads an A-B-A set of E-units and eighteen passenger cars through the Royal Gorge and over Tennessee Pass in June 1997. Day One sees the beautiful train head south out of Denver on the Joint Line and into Canon City. Day Two brings you the sights and sounds of steam marching through the depths of the Royal Gorge, across the hanging bridge and up along the winding Arkansas River. The 844 then blasts up grade to assault 10,000 foot high Tennessee Pass. Day Three features a high speed chase across Utah's magnificent desert landscapes through Cisco, Green River, and on to Helper. In an awesome display of power, 844 battles steep grades through Price Canyon, Castle Gate, and on to Soldier Summit. The final hours see the train down through the Thistle tunnels, Provo, and arrival at Salt Lake City. Nowhere else will you find footage of steam operating through such beautiful scenery.
