This is My Railroad - Southern Pacific Steam Version 1947 (VHS video)

The Southern Pacific produced an incredible film of its railroad operations in 1947 to show the public what it takes to move both freight and passengers over one of the nation's largest railroads. This film shows the various jobs that need to be done to keep a giant like the Southern Pacific running smoothly and on time.

The film was shot when the railroad was mainly all steam. You'll see Daylights traveling along the coast, Cab Forwards pulling freights, rotaries operating in snow storms over Donner Pass, steam on Tehachapi, and a steady stream of passenger trains.

Along the way there are also scenes of the track crews at work, the repair and rebuilding of both freight cars and locomotives, passenger service, the dispatching of trains and many of the other jobs that are required to keep the railroad running.
