The biggest and longest steam-powered narrow gauge freight trains in memory were run from Chama, New Mexico, in October, 1992. Two steam locomotives pulled and one pushed 34 cars up the 4% grade of 11,000 foot Cumbres Pass to Antonito, Colorado. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking along the old route of the Denver & Rio Grande. During five days of filming, the camera crews captured scenes of doubleheaders, mid-train helpers, and rear-train pushers from trackside and aboard the trains. There's so much great footage that this program had to be made into a two volume set.
